Which is exactly what this smells like when you carve bone.
I can't draw when I'm gone. I mean I can on paper, but any computer art I may have to finish always has to wait till I get back. My off brand tablet is fussy on any computer other than my own.
But I am getting better and better with the dremel tool.
All are carved from cow bone except the hook, which is in fact a common clam shell that's found in the creek near the house I was staying in.
The small paw, surf board, and hook are finished.
All the other ones are not.
I did not carve the spiral, But I did sand it off and was preparing it for a smoothing down.

I would love to.
However I don't have a dremel at my apartment, or even a place to properly carve the bane if I did have one. It may be while before I could go back out of state to finish them.
Not to say I can't take your commission, just that it will in fact be a good wait before they are done.

From petsmart or the slaughter house.
While the petsmart bones are cleaned and ready to go, I have soak the slaughter house bones in cleaners for a few days to get them properly cleaned.
They're a bit... messy when I get them. But they also give them away fro free if you don't mind fishing them out yourself.

If you don't like getting knee deep in trash cans full of what use to be a cow that have been sitting out in the sun for a few days, Petsmart has half cut cleaned cow leg bones for like 7 or 8 bucks.
I was lucky that day. Most slaughter houses don't give bones away for free, and you also have to fuss with cleaning it, which can take a while.
To be honest, 7 dollars for a already cleaned bone is not a bad deal. Not having to smell the decaying smell alone is worth that price.
The shells are very pretty, but also very brittle. One strong tap and they easily break. It's very frustrating to have a project almost finished and suddenly have it shatter when you give it it's final sanding. Which I did... about 3 times.
I recommend the bone for beginners. I also recommend the bone for people with butter fingers.
On a somewhat related note, the bone marrow makes your hands so soft and smooth. It's also what they use to make jello. Now you Know.

The tool is heavy and quite large for my hand. I feel I'd do better work with a lighter and smaller tool. There's cases on just about all of these pendants were the bit has kicked in one direction or another and nicked it do it me losing or fumbling my grip.
I'm getting better with my angle of attack. Quicker more rounded strokes seem to cut down on the kicking, but even still I can only grip the dremel in hand for so long.
