This is the town of Houffalize in Belgium, where my grandpa fought in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.

My grandpa writes: "As I stood there observing the city I noticed this long building – someone in that building was carrying a lantern from one end to the other – the light shining through each window as he passed. The only light to be seen." It was someone in that church walking down a hall.
