Finally properly introducing a new major Daybreak character- PENUMBRA! You might've spotted them in a few pieces of artwork but I never properly explained what its deal is.
Penumbra was constructed essentially as a giant archive of data by the Grox species after the massive loss of media and information caused by the Termina disaster. It eventually gained sapience despite their administrator's best efforts to prevent it from happening.

It's a very long story, but being used as nothing but a tool and denied personhood + Being driven mad by isolation lead them to become obsessed with the concept of a lie. They were exiled from the empire after spreading misinformation that caused mass government panic and were left alone to drift through space for the rest of eternity. There's a short story I wrote about them which I might post.
