Posted mainly for some of my circle over at DeviantArt.
An American Tail was actually the first Don Bluth film I watched, way back when I was 12, sometime from 2011 to 2012. I actually prefer The Treasure of Manhattan Island VASTLY over Fievel Goes West. While the latter has FAR better animation, it's brought down in my opinion by it's rehashed plot elements and less serious approach ("Bye mirage of Tiger" "Bye mirage of Fievel" 0_0). The former definitely isn't perfect; I do feel Tony in that film is a bit mischaracterized, and the animation is abysmal EVEN for Direct-to-video-cheapquel standards, but it does make up for it with at least an engaging plot, and builds on the first film's themes WAY BETTER than the latter did.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own these characters, Universal Studios (and MAYBE Steven Spielberg/Amblin?) does.
