Beneath the softly glowing neon of a rainy metropolis, a pink-haired Warthog carves through evening traffic. The ensuing cacophony of angry honks are effortlessly drowned out by the screaming whine of his sport bike's engine, as he races up the damp, winding highway towards the city limits.
Greyscale commission for
Xipherium, of their Warthog punk, Kozmo.
I had a GREAT time working on this one, and I'm really happy with the overall composition. They requested manga-style shading, which I didn't have much experience with, so I took a lot of cues from Initial-D for the hatching and speed lines, and blended it with some solid black cells to try and capture the dark, moody atmosphere I had in mind. I think it turned out pretty good overall, so I hope you will as well. Personally, I think the few pops of bright, saturated colors REALLY bring the whole piece together.
Thanks again to Xipherium for ordering this, and challenging me to step out of my comfort zone a bit. Their character designs are so sick, and I'd be stoked to work with them again in the future.
Enjoy~ :3
