The concept of endurance in transformation is something that is both a common and yet woefully underutilized consideration. Often we see it in the idea of a person struggling against their animal nature as events unfold around them, yet, rarely are these "battles" given any meat in terms of the sheer struggle they represent. They come and go with barely any thought towards the path it took to get there.
The concept to this is natural. People aren't there to hear about the struggle, they are there for the post-content. The after struggle, as it were. Yet, if we don't give the before its proper dues, the after can often feel emptier than we might like.
Just a bit of food for thought, but I think we could do with a bit more long-term struggle. Whether it's against the elements of nature or the social expectations of man, these are avenues well worth exploring if we really want to get the full breadth of what transformation has to offer us.
Something I always found fascinating when it comes to Flygone's design is that of the googles. Simultaneously a safe and brave way to express the nature of compound lenses, it's an interesting take on the nature of sight and the environment the creature is supposed to inhabit. It's really no surprise that it's such a focus for many transformations regarding this particular Pokemon, and I'll admit to being no exception.
Still, it's a really cool design overall and though my name is sometimes compared to it in jest, I still have a soft spot for the bug dragons. Perhaps I may have to do more with the form in the future, eh?
