Thank you! I used a lot of clipping masks and the multiply/screen blend modes. I develop the shading by switching often between the eraser and brush (I bind them to adjacent keys so I can switch between them quickly), changing the opacity of both tools depending on how hard or soft I want the gradation to be. I use the default hard round brush with a slightly modified maximum opacity and pressure sensitivity.

I'm glad you like it! I feel like this method of shading--with using lots of brush strokes--gives me a lot of leniency, which is why I like doing it this way!
