Yet another piece from
The Dermar are a mysterious race, capable of changing shape to become any creature of equivalent size, provided they have the hide of said creature to 'wear'(like the Selkies of Scottish myth, from which they're inspired). Dermar isn't even their own name for themselves, merely one they've adopted. They generally keep to themselves, not interacting with other races in their natural forms, thus, much of their natural biology is unknown. One of the few facts that is known is that their 'natural' size can vary wildly, from ~80 lb at the smallest to ~800 lb at the largest, or even more if they're prepared to accept a degree of corpulence. They also have a marked preference in the types of hides they 'wear' with predators and/or 'sapients' coming in top, and 'prey' animals being avoided if at all possible. Indeed, being trapped in the body of a domestic animal for a period is a common punishment among their kind.
As always, comments are appreciated.
