It's NOT quite Spooky Month anymore, but I stand by that the spooky season does not end with Halloween, we still have till the Winter Solstice as days grow ever shorter and darker and the Wild Hunt howls through the sky on dark and winds nights. Last year I did a bunch of classic horror story characters as pokemon: Count Dracula, Victor Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, etc...
I decided I wanted to do something like that again this year but with a little twist. First of all, instead of horror I decided to go a different direction capturing another side of Halloween: Fun (with some scariness mixed in)
This year the theme is Fairytales.
I had an idea I wanted to explore:
These pokemon are NOT meant to be taken as the characters from their respective fairy tales, these are kids who are wearing costumes that allow them to embody the story for which they are dressed as and gain abilities associated with their character/story, so a character might not just be the character who they resemble but a culmination of the entire story, and stories can be very powerful!
Astriel or Aster for short, embodies the spirit of the story of the Wishing Stars, but also takes some inspiration from Wish granting fairies, Genies, and Guardian Angels. The Idea of a shooting star granting a wish seems to have originated from Greek/Roman Myth and were believed to be a sign of a divine messenger.
Aster knows the dangers and follies involved with making wishes. A wish is near limitless possibility made probable in an instant. Not all wishes are good, some are explicitly bad, some are made without the wisher having full information on the scope of what their wish will effect, and some wishes are what a person wants in the moment but not what they really need to be happy. Aster's true goal is to make people happy, not just grant wishes so he won't grant any wish right off the bat and will try not to need to cast a wish if a person's problems can be solved any other way. He will however personally investigate all information around the person and their circumstances to try to help them solve their problem and in the end get them to realize they never needed a wish at all or if it's truly necessary give them the wish they need.
