Fifth Hypnovember commission of the 2025 season.
The client was A113rtist and he went with the pocket watch prompt. In this case, he asked for a story with Rebecca Cunningham from Talespin, where she gets a…let’s say, unexpected gift.
If you are interesed in getting an Hypnovember story, I’m still open for commissions!

It was one of those days.
With Baloo, Kit and Wildcat out on one of their adventures and Molly staying with some friends, Rebecca was the only one left in the Higher for Hire building and today she had a lot of things to take care of. Not only she had to rearrange the list of trips Baloo made, adding the new usual clients they got, but also had to check every single file before putting it back with the others.
Thanks to her experience dealing with these kinds of things, Rebecca was halfway there and as she felt she earned a break, the businesswoman sat down for the first time in hours. She knew this was far from an easy job, but she was the only one qualified to do this and if the company was in order then that meant everyone linked to it could be more successful. As Rebecca took a sip from her cup, wondering when Baloo, Kit and Wildcat would come back, her break was interrupted by someone knocking on the door.
“Who could it be?” She asked herself while standing up. It wasn’t strange for someone to come there, she even expected this to be a client, but after opening the door, the only thing Rebecca found was a box that had a note that said “Open it”. She checked around for a bit, hoping to see the one who left it behind, but after not finding anyone, the bear woman took the box back inside and did what the note told her to do. The size of the box made her believe that this would be something big, but even before checking its content, Rebecca could feel that it was something small and she was right as the item in the box was something that could literally be carried in her pocket. “A pocket watch?”
This came as a surprise for a multitude of reasons and apart from her expecting something bigger, it was strange that someone gave her an item like that. She did have some admirers in the past, men that sent her gifts like flowers and cards, but she never got a pocket watch nor was interested in getting one. It was unexpected and yet, being part of her nature, Rebecca still tried to find something good to say about this.
“Well, even if this doesn’t fit my style, I still think it looks nice,” she admired it, commenting about the details it had and even commending the one who sent it for taking care of it. Unbeknownst to her, the moment she lifted it upwards, she made herself an easy target as this wasn’t a regular pocket watch. All it took was for Rebecca to place it in front of her gaze as that’s when its captivating swing started. “It’s a…pretty watch…”
She was set on going back to her work, hoping to finish checking the last few files before Baloo came back, but as she admired the swing of the pocket watch, she started to dismiss that idea. Rebecca could feel that something was off, but didn’t mind as she was more concentrated instead on admiring the new treasure she received.
“Maybe…maybe I could keep it…” the idea was enhanced, going from her not sure what to do with it to thinking of keeping it with her. This was more than just a lucky item, it was something that granted her a feeling of relaxation, that one thing she was yearning for. The more she admired the movement of the pocket watch, looking deeply at how it went from one side to the other at a slow yet steady pace, Rebecca started feeling more relaxed and for the first time, she considered doing something she didn’t expect. “Maybe I…could take a longer break and…keep watching…”
Out of all the workers in the building, she was the most responsible one, with sometimes being a bit bossy but doing it for the benefit of the company and not because she wanted to make everyone else feel like less. Because of that, Rebecca always tried to keep things in order and doing the best job she could, but upon laying her eyes on the pocket watch, she discovered how much she needed this, but at the same time, she still remembered that she had a lot of work to do.
“I should…go back to work…I said I was going to do that…” she was torn between looking at the entrancing swing of her new treasure or continuing reading the files. Both were important things to her and while she tried to remind herself about the tasks she had to finish, as she moved the pocket watch closer to her gaze, Rebecca’s mind started to ignore the files she had to check. “Just…for a bit more…”
She kept trying to tell herself that this was going to be fine and that this wouldn’t affect her plans, but it was obvious that the bear woman wasn’t strong enough to ignore that captivating idea. It was the first time in a really long time since Rebecca was this relaxed and ignored everything else that wasn’t the pocket watch and its entrancing swing.
“N-need more…of this…” she was surprised to hear herself saying that. Yes, when she was in private, the businesswoman tended to drift into those needy thoughts, ideas that came back to her during certain times, but when she was on her job or taking care of something else, she tried to push those away. The golden watch made her discover that she made a mistake, that trying to repress those ideas caused her more wrong than good and she wanted to change that right now.
Rebecca stopped thinking about her job or any other idea that wasn’t related to her new treasure. She rapidly drifted into a deep state of relaxation, feeling delighted to get this after a long and tiring day of work. She no longer felt exhausted and her reasons to be like that were thanks to the golden pocket watch and the way it swung, but that wasn’t all as suddenly, a new idea invaded her mind, one thought that she simply couldn’t ignore.
“I…want to…to submit…” submission, while a strange idea to think about, started to sound like the best thing ever. She liked her job and the life she had, but there was a chance of getting something better, to start over and get a life that could help her feel better. With each pass of the pocket watch, Rebecca started to crave for more. “I’ll do...anything...”
In a normal situation, the bear woman would have the common sense to understand how bad this was. Letting herself be hypnotized and having her head filled with ideas of submission would have been enough for her to think that was bad, but a combination of her exhaustion and being entranced by the golden watch made her believe that this was what she wanted.
“Take me...I submit and...will obey...” it looked like she was speaking alone, but in reality, this was her under the influence of a hidden trigger, one that activated once Rebecca let her guard down completely and embraced her new desire of servitude. Even after she no longer looked at the swing of the pocket watch, having dropped the treasure mere moments after submitting completely, the bear woman remained in that state of trance.
Rising from her chair, she carefully picked up the pocket watch and left the building. She didn’t know where she was going, being guided by that thought of walking until she arrived where her master was, but she simply didn’t care. The businesswoman was no longer in control of herself and all she wanted was to get more opportunities to be put in that state of bliss and relaxation, eager to do anything to get what she wanted.
An hour later, Baloo, Kit and Wildcat came back from what they all considered the greatest adventure they had at the moment. The big bear felt that the only thing left was for Rebecca and Molly to be there, thinking that this trip would have been better if they accompanied them and to make it up, he decided to share part of what they got with the bear woman, but as they looked for her in the building, not only they found out that the place was a mess, but that Rebecca wasn’t nowhere to be seen.
“Where did she go?” Asked Baloo while Kit handed him the empty box. They didn’t know what really happened in their absence, believing that this was someone trying to get something from them in exchange for Rebecca. The bear woman was actually found, feeling ecstatic about that chance of a lifetime she got and unlike other times, where she hoped they would come to her rescue, she didn’t want to be found or come back. Instead, she wanted one thing only.
To continue enjoying that state of relaxation that she desperately needed.
