It was a lovely autumn day this afternoon. The leaves had all turned, leaving the forests and fields in beautiful shades of orange and red. The skies were clear and a cool breeze swept over the land. While it was a fair bit chilly outside, it was a lovely day to hang around and enjoy nature while the day was still young. Solis, Carmen, and a couple others had come to a rather lovely spot to hang around and play where the skies were open and few others could disturb them.
But sometime in their preparation, Sang had wandered off to a secluded spot of his own, resting by a tree away from the others. Naturally it wasn't long before someone noticed.
"Hey, you coming along, Sang?" Solis asked.
"I will, yeah," Sang said, giving a reassuring smile back. "I'll just spend a bit of time relaxing here."
Solis smiled and headed off back to the others, leaving Sang in peace again. It wasn't entirely unusual for him to do this, most of the time he was more in the mood to simply relax and enjoy himself rather than do anything specific, and this time was no different.
He could still hear the others behind him, talking and laughing among themselves. It was a rather comforting sound. Even here, he knew he could head back to them at any time, and they'd welcome him with open wings. But for now, it was time for him to rest.
And so Sanguis sat in his little spot, staring ahead at the fields before him, watching as the winds created ripples in the dry grass. Leaves fell and flew from the tree beside him, clouds moved on in the distance. The sunlight warmed his dark scales and his red mane flowed with the cool autumn breeze.
There were few thoughts in his head in that moment. There wasn't much he wished to do. For now he was content to simply be. To simply exist and enjoy the nature around him.
This was a lovely mini-YCH that I got from
darknessprotection that really fits the autumn season, and really fits me as well in a sense. Oftentimes when heading out with my mate and/or friends to someplace nice, I tend to not really want or need to do much. Instead I'm perfectly content to just find a nice spot someplace and sit there, enjoying nature and being alone with my thoughts without fully isolating myself from everyone. It's...peaceful. Very much like Sang is doing in this piece.
With that I feel this piece is also fitting for a minor announcement on myself and this page.
Draco Solis has been a big part of me and has been my sona for about ten years now. Plenty has happened to me in that time, especially in the past five. Plenty hardships, pain, and broken hearts, but a lot of growth and change in myself as a person, and I'm no longer the same as I was when I first came here. As a result, I don't feel as great a connection to Solis as I once did.
As a result, Sanguis Venator will be taking over as my primary sona from here on. He reflects how I see myself a lot more at this point, and better matches both my changing interests and the sort of aesthetics I enjoy seeing and incorporating into myself. Much more gothic and metal inspired, black and red coloration (a combination I've come to love), and overall unashamed nerd. And the connection I feel to Sanguis in this image only really solidifies that decision.
Solis will remain around in a sense, and there will still be the occasional story and artwork of him. But Sanguis will become the new face of this profile, so to speak. So expect to see more of him in the future!
