When that day arrived

His bunny buddy had vanished

Fox called on an old elk
Who said he saw Bunny hop South
So Fox travelled all that day

Fox stayed out of view
From the cars and the people too
He then caught a whiff
Of his pal and he hurried quick
Up to a cabin he crept from the side
And then he nearly died
When he saw his bunny friend
In the hands of human men

A stew on the stove was boiling
Fox barked out so loud
Bunny kicked free from his jailers
Who were startled by the sound
He squeezed through a gap in the door
The two escaped the town
Fox asked why his playmate left him
Bunny looked back with a frown

And he said,

“I was so sad and lonely
I was looking all over for you, my friend”
The fox embraced him firmly
“I’ll never, ever, ever leave you again”
