IMHO, my current viewpoint on the serious version of the "felonies or misdemeanors" question is that Snake seems like someone who would commit misdemeanors fairly casually but would be hesitant to commit a felony; someone who is selfish, somewhat unethical and perhaps has reduced/limited empathy for others but not a complete monster who tortures people for fun. Anyway, that's my interpretation of this page. Of course, it could be that Snake is just enjoying a rare (for him) opportunity to "mess with" other members of the gang in a situation where he has a degree of power over them (because they are violating the boss's orders and the boss happens to be nearby). Perhaps we'll learn more over the next few pages.

Sounds about right! He's very much still "a new guy" in the gang, so he's ambitious, the type to test boundaries and traditions maybe, but he's careful not to get into any real trouble himself.
Everyone in Kuserra is probably at least a little numb to suffering, but Snake doesn't seem to me like the type to relish in it.
