I'm really finding myself staring at the highlight on this one's eye. It is so intense, a stark whiteness while the rest of the light colors in the image are soft.
I'm wondering how you pulled that off. Did you just sort of ..gently poke the paper with a fair amount of white paint? Aha, sorry, my wording is weird. Hurr.

I use a white gesso for the stark highlights - there is no other pure white in the piece (and the gesso is so thick it is opaque over anything. I know the highlight wouldn't really look like that in the night sky, but I think it makes the eye stand out and become more of a focal point, so I cheated a little. :)
