Here's Maho in a nutshell:

-She was born to Japanese immigrants and went into foster care when her parents died in a car crash when she was 5. She was adopted 3 years later by a fundamentalist Christian couple from the Midwest U.S., who changed her name from Maho to Maria and enrolled her in a Christian school.
-As a teenager, she reclaimed her original name and culture and began to rebel against her adoptive parents, because rebelling is what Maho does best.
-After getting expelled from her Christian school in 10th grade, she transferred to a public school where she met and befriended Ash.
-She is now a sophomore theater major in college, a walking encyclopedia of Japanese culture and ways-to-annoy-conservative-parents, and Ash's roommate (and girlfriend/domme).
