This is a very typical sight on Assateague. The horses pretty much go wherever they please and sometimes ya just gotta wait for them to cross the road, no matter how pokey they happen to be about it. No one seems to terribly mind, though!

There is no way in hell I would ever let one of the equines that are in m care to be aloud to do that. Its totally unsafe. Some moron that's not paying attention to his driving will hit them. A small herd of horses where completely wiped out near San Francisco Ca because some moron was racing down a windy road and hit all of them. The only good news out of the whole thing is the moron was killed also.
Actually, these are wild horses, descended from domesticated horses that went feral hundreds of years ago and have been living on the island ever since. The entire island is a protected park and anyone entering is warned not to get close to the horses. The speed limits are very low and everyone seems to heed them, as far as I've seen.

But yeah, in any other situation, this sort of scene would be dangerous.
