I apologize...ive been very lazy about everything. lack of motivation
However, this is the earliest flashback of Shelby ( for those who are following the story).
Shelby is 19, and inexperienced and new to a life of prostitution in Chicago's South Side.
At first she did it to raise money for her sick mother. but she only fell deeper into the hole.
Lazarus is 27, and a vagabond who travels from nowhere and going nowhere and sort of a lone wolf.
He was Shelby's first.
But like most men who are looking for a good time, Lazarus just wanted to not feel lonely that wintry December night.
Despite how young this inexperienced hooker on the streets was, he decided "oh hell...let's face it...we are both desperate."
Something inside of him was saying "Damn. Why so young? Don't you have parents? Why don't you stop this shit and go on home. at least you have someone to go home to. Who am i to deprive you of your virginity and have you working like a slave so you can live to see tomorrow?"
To sum up the feelings convey in this pic listen to this song from 1967 :

I guess the real reason i set up the story like this is because of the African-American women literature i've read. You mat want to check out "Song of Solomon" by Toni Morrison and "The Women of Brewster Place" by Gloria Naylor. Both stories illustrate the struggles of Black women ( and people in general) while submitting to lives in projects or any run-down,derelict urban development.
This story mainly focuses on two points of view. Shelby's point of view is living in a world that she cannot escape all by herself, until she meets the one person that can. I wont say any more than that.
However, if you have been following the pics....you can fit the pieces of the puzzle yourself to determine the story ;). Every pic of Paul and Shelby...is a puzzle piece.
i may start from the beginning or from the end or from the middle...who knows? ;)
