Concept Work "Midge the Pidge" Pg 1
But she's not a pigeon. Lol, actually, she's based heavily on the 'Snow Fairy', even if she's meant to be an owl of a type. Yes, this is more Warrowick stuff. Yes this makes like...five generations of family members being plotted out. Yes, I am away. I've got a bunch of 'fic' content in the setting to share. I promise I'll share something eventually.
So who is Midge? The Howell/Grey family line in Warrowick is complicated...and we've extensively focused on characters living in what is culturally the last century worth of Americanna turned retro futuristic and magic coded. With Midge, we're pretty much hitting the end of the line in terms of rising just up above 'present culture'. Lucius and Elanor Grey have two children, Sophia and Sinclaire Grey, who grew up in the late 60s to early 80s. Sophia goes on to wed Carol, an owl lady. (Yes, Sophia bats for the other team.) They adopt a kid, a direct descendant of the Farrowfaighle/Howell line named Victoria from Reg's side (Although they don't know that right away), who grows into adulthood during the 90s, becoming all grunge and punk coded. But about five years or so later, they adopt a toddler-aged Midge, whom Vicky immediately takes to with a very protective big sister zeal.
Midge is autistic coded. This is compounded by the fact that she's touched with some degree of future sight magic, which manifests through drawings and paintings. Midge is non-verbal at first, but as she settles into her new family, she becomes a bit of a blabbermouth, often simply saying things she's seen or thinks without any real thought over if it's a private matter or she's spilling secrets. She's very Lilo from Lilo and Stitch, but more passive.
As an adult, Midge is a quirky artist who gives in to being at the whim of her profession. She'll paint, she'll sculpt, she'll dabble in photography, and she'll do all of it in a strange way. From painting upside down to sculpting with her talons (feet), she loves getting a 'new perspective' on a project. Her latent magic allows her to paint past events with an intense degree of accuracy, to the level of classical works. Her depictions of the future, however, are always abstract and muddled. But even when it has nothing to do with visions, she's just painting whatever grabs her in the moment. Unlike Vicky, Midge is more associated with the early 2000s because she is significantly younger than Vicky when she's adopted, even going through an emo phase in her teens.
This is all just concept work; I haven't settled on a final design.
