Tenth Hypnovember story of the 2025 season.
The client was vocaloidbrsfreak97 and she wanted a story with the Experiment prompt. The idea was simple as this project included an OC of Sayo and the sinister and hypnotic Pokemon known as Malamar. If you know the franchise, I think you now have an idea what that means.
If you are interested in getting a story for this Hypnovember, I'm open for commissions!

Sayo felt that she was closer to discovering the truth.
At first, after her encounter with Mable, the Pokémon trainer believed in her words, that she stopped working with Team Flare and that she was trying to start over. From the moment she saw her, Sayo was suspicious about her true intentions and the sudden sightings of people wearing the familiar orange uniforms roaming at night caused her suspicions to grow stronger.
Originally she was going to go back to the Pokémon Research Lab to confront Mable, but not only did the blue-haired woman not be there, but she also found out a secret passage in her office. That was enough proof for her to know that Mable wasn’t telling the truth and after checking that her team was as prepared as her, with her trustworthy Meowstic staying out of her Poké Ball the whole time, she sneaked inside.
“A lab under a lab, a bit repetitive if you ask me, but knowing Team Flare, they are doing this for a reason,” Sayo said as she and her Pokémon walked around the place. Unbeknownst to the trainer, she was being watched by some of the members of Team Flare, including Mable who was expecting her to do something like this. One of the grunts was prepared to leave the security room and take care of the intruder, but Mable stopped him, mentioning that this could be a chance to use their new experiment against her.
“Our subject already excelled at the tests with Pokémon and I’m confident that it could take care of the trainer,” she spoke in a calm yet dominant tone, commanding the main grunt to release the Pokémon. It wasn’t necessary for them to give the sinister creature any instructions as it could feel the presence of someone who shouldn’t be there.
At the same time, after Meowstic found some notes on a nearby desk, Sayo discovered the plan of enhancing the abilities of certain Pokémon, with the full list having ones that were usually used by Team Flare members. This was enough for her to be sure about her suspicions and that Mable didn’t change sides, but as she continued reading the notes, finding a list of attacks and Pokémon, she dropped the paper upon hearing a strange and eerie sound.
“What’s that?” She quietly asked herself, looking around as she and Meowstic moved closer to each other. From the moment they went deeper, they knew about their risks. This was also one of the reasons she checked the states of her Pokémon as she expected to go against someone powerful. It didn’t take long for the sinister Pokémon to finally reveal itself, making an entrance while accompanied with a bright and colorful glow. “Oh no.”
It was a Malamar, an evil-looking Pokémon that was also used by some Team Flare members. Sayo recognized it, knowing that this was the same Pokémon that Xerosic, one of Team Flare’s main scientists, had on his team. Just by looking at it, the trainer could feel that there was something different with it and after he tried to use his tentacles to attack her and her Meowstic, she decided to make her move and commanded her trustworthy Pokémon to fight back.
Mable was dictating the orders by an earpiece that the evil-looking Pokémon had, tasking it to make Sayo believe she had a chance againt it when in reality, this was a battle she was never going to win. The Malamar avoided all the attacks of Meowstic while letting its glow distract the trainer and the Pokémon, doing this until there was a chance to counterattack and after Meowstic’s failed attack, that’s when the blue-haired woman decided to reveal her plans as she used the Mega Stone of Malamar, transforming the sinister Pokémon’s into a bigger and scary version of itself.
“Meowstic…you have to...uhm…attack again,” Sayo felt that her sudden reaction was related to shock, not expecting this kind of creature to be in front of her and while part of this was linked to being surprised by Malamar’s new form, there was something else. The notes talked about Team Flare enhancing certain abilities in Pokémon and one was turning Malamar’s hypnotic attack into something that was so powerful that no one could resist it. Sayo was still in the early stages, with her and Meowstic being hit by it from the moment the sinister Pokémon came towards them, but after Mega evolving, the attack became more powerful than before. This was so much to the small Pokémon that her trainer had to call another Pokémon out. “Gallade…need your…assistance.”
She wasn’t thinking well, too dazed and overwhelmed to even make the right choices. Gallade, while a powerful Pokémon of its own and the strongest one on her team, was commanded to use fighting attacks against the psychic and dark Pokémon. Mega evolving him didn’t help either as once he locked his gaze on the entrancing glow, he was having a hard time landing a single blow and even listening to his trainer.
The three felt victim of the sinister Pokémon as all it took was one attack for it to take the upper hand. In a normal situation, Sayo would have come up with a solution and change things in her favor, but at this point, she was so dazed that she was having a hard time thinking about even the simplest things, including the right attacks to use against the hypnotic creature. Nonetheless, while still being too awestruck to do anything, Sayo still continued with her attempts, being the only one of the three who still had a bit of energy to continue.
“Gallade…Meowstic…I want to…to…” as she stumbled between her words, Malamar used that opportunity to use his tentacles to coil both of her Pokémon, incapacitating them in the process. Instead of running away, Sayo still tried to think on the next command, but the more she looked at the sinister Pokémon body, fascinated by the way it glowed, she had a hard time coming up with an idea. This was just the response Team Flare desired to see, with the hypnotic attack not only being strong enough to stop anyone, but also made them become completely mindless for them. “I…I…I…”
Sayo was on her last grasp, holding on to that idea that she couldn’t let Team Flare win, but nothing she did worked and as the Malamar carefully coiled her body, moving the trainer closer to see his entrancing glow, the idea of fighting back faded away. What remained was that she was in that lab for a reason, one that she couldn’t remember nor cared about. It was clear that Sayo needed some assistance and by her luck, someone was there to help her with that.
“I see you met our most powerful creature at the moment, a Pokémon who not only can defeat all kinds of opponents, but also help them understand what is better for them,” even if she forgot that was Mable’s voice, thanks to Malamar’s assistance, she felt safe upon learning about her presence. Sayo became a blank canvas for her and Team Flare to do anything she pleased and as the main plan was making the organization rise from the ashes, their priority was getting people that would be of good use for them. “It pleases me so much to know that you decided to volunteer yourself to help us. A good grunt like you is not easy to find and all of us are delighted to see you here. We expect nothing but the best from you.”
She implanted ideas in her mind and Sayo believed all of them. No, she wasn’t there to find the truth, this was all part of her training and while it looked like she couldn’t defeat the evil-looking Pokémon, she still did a good job. Mable’s words just encouraged that and the more she looked at Malamar’s glow, the more she accepted that as the only thing she had to believe.
“We will discuss the plans later, but first, for passing the test, you will get a reward and that will be the chance of seeing Malamar’s special attack for the rest of the night. If I remember, isn’t that what you wanted. Am I right?” It sounded strange, but if Mable told her she wanted that then she believed that. Her original goal didn’t end well, but she didn’t care. Sayo embraced that new idea that the Team Flare admin was telling her and she welcomed this chance. Her “training” ending with her not defeating Malamar only made her get more motivated about what to do next as she got a chance to do good for the organization that she was now part of. Yes, the old Sayo stopped existing and she was going to start with her new opportunity. She was ready now, expecting to fulfill her dreams that were not about her becoming a powerful trainer.
But to help Team Flare with their plans of conquest.
