WHEW well this was a project. One I've been chipping away at for the better part of a week but it's finally done. Initially I had planned on ordering every Pokémon within each tier but by the time I was half done with gen 1 I was already going insane doing it this way so I reverted to just going numerically. I had to redo gen 1 because I forgot some megas since for some reason Serebii doesn't list the new Raichu forms in the ZA mega additions but does for the all mega's page. On the plus side it means the formatting is now the same for gen 1 as it is for the rest of them. There may be a few out of place if I moved them later but for the most part it should be in order now.
Overall I likely only spent 1 min per Pokémon so I guess you could call this a pretty loose rating. It's more based on my general impression of each mon but hopefully that's worth something to you. All that being said I'll leave below some of my background history with the franchise and the general meaning of each tier on this list.
On an unrelated note As I'm uploading this to DA it has auto selected "Fakemon" as a tag for this upload XD. In my headcannon even the algorithm can't believe how awful mega Starmie is. It really should put back on the Patrick disguise to blend in better here XDD.
Notes on Me
1) Although I've played the mainline games through at least once each I haven't done a repeat playthrough of any of them since gen 4 (unless you count the remakes). As a result I have more nostalgia and bias for earlier gens for better or for worse. Also I haven't done the postgames of 5 and up (except for the Delta episode in the gen 3 remake)
2) I don't PvP. I'm basing my list off of what I think looks good and not how it performs in battle or what it can learn.
3) I haven't watched half the Anime. I did eventually look up Ash's final season but aside from that I've only made it up to the very start of gen V. Kid me made it to gen 2 before getting distracted. Adult me watches and episode to two here and there but that's about it. As for the movies I've seen up as far as 12 but that was years ago.
4) Keep in mind these are just MY OPINIONS. I then added the new mega's too pulling images from Serebii.net to do so but since I used the existing template and not an entirely new one these aren't saved on there. The list has male/female variants as well as form alts but outside of a few particular designs I didn't feel the need to include them. If you include these there are 1542 designs to consider here so have fun!
5) I've only put a few hours into gen IX before dropping it. Honestly I'm seeing some of the gen IX designs here for the first time and I'm glad I stopped tbh.
6) With all the alt forms and one off appearances I've doubtlessly missed something. Shadow Lugia comes to mind as I'm writing this (likely an S tier if you were wondering). While I won't be adding them to the tier list since I'd have to remake the whole thing to do so I'd be happy to talk about them in the comments.
TIER MEANINGS
S - I have lots of things I like about them. They both look cool and typically are either portrayed in a cool way or I just have a fondness for them. The top five could be rearranged depending on the day of the week really.
A - Overall I still find them great. I still have lost of good things to say about them though but not everything can make S tier
B - Designs that I'm generally positive towards but don't have strong feelings for. Something could be holding them back or I just feel they don't deserve a higher rating
C - Overall the middle of the road tier. Most of the designs in here are just kinda there for me. It really feels like "OH it's *insert name here*.... Moving on..." Not all are like that but the vast majority are that way. The ones that aren't have either climbed up due to have something good or fallen down due to having a flaws that I don't like.
D - I just don't really like the design of any of these. I don't consider them bad I just don't like em. In some cases it's their color or how they stack up with the rest of their line that lands them here.
E - Now I'm just straight up asking: Why do these even exist? Some are ugly, some are uninspired and some are both. Enough said.
