just a silly joke comic, I was pretty dissapointed in season 2 of helluva boss for how less edgy it was XoP i want cussing! I want blood, guts, sex and violence! Let blitzo say another slur! Xo3 i hope season 3 feels more energetic now that they got their 400 flashbacks outta the way

I get where you’re coming from, honestly. Season 1 had that wild, reckless edge that really hooked a lot of us — the gore, the chaos, the unfiltered Blitzo-isms. It definitely felt different from Season 2.
But at the same time, I think if the show had kept leaning only on shock value without slowing down for the characters, it would’ve burned itself out pretty fast. For me, the emotional beats and the deeper character focus kept it from turning into just another “edgy adult cartoon” and gave the cast actual weight. Without that development, I feel like the series would’ve ended up a lot weaker overall.
Still, I do miss some of the energy from the earlier episodes too. I’m hoping Season 3 finds a good balance — letting the story and character arcs keep growing, while also bringing back some of that unhinged, sharp, messy Helluva Boss chaos that made the show feel alive in the first place.
So yeah… I totally respect your view, and I kind of want both worlds: the heart and the hellfire. And who knows? Since Vivziepop said Season 3 is her "favorite", we might be in store for something good!

I’ve been reading the other replies, and I honestly appreciate seeing the different sides people have toward Season 2. A lot of the points about tone, pacing, and how the show handles trauma are completely understandable. Helluva Boss hits people in really personal ways, so it makes sense that not everyone connects with the same aspects.
For me, I still see value in the character-heavy approach they took, even if it didn’t land for everyone. I personally sympathize with Stolas a lot, so some of the emotional focus worked for me. But I can still understand why others felt overwhelmed or wanted more balance with the lighter, chaotic energy from Season 1.
I’m hoping that Season 3 maybe finds that middle ground — keeping the development that’s already been built while also bringing back some of that wilder, episodic fun that made the earlier episodes memorable. It feels like there’s room for both sides of the tone, and I’d love to see the show explore that mix.
But overall, I really appreciate hearing everyone’s perspectives. Even when we see it differently, it’s interesting to hear how the same episodes can affect people in completely different ways.

i miss when the show was episodic murder shenanigans instead of an extended trauma dump from every main character. ironic i'm saying this with The Most Pathetic Clown as my pfp but he lives in my brain so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
honestly the way spindlehorse shows (and by extension the fandom) handle trauma makes me mad uncomfortable for really weird deep-seated personal reasons. my favorite character from the pilot gives me minor anxiety attacks now if i see him unexpectedly. sucks tbh i love SO MUCH about these shows but the stuff i don't like feels so prominent

I feel it's because the writers realized Stella and her brother are kind of the main SERIOUS (Dorks and cherub have the actual beefs, but... look at them) villains of the show and have no reason to fight Blitzo. So the easiest way to get that to happen is to speed run the Stolas X Blitzo arc, Stolas's lack of Character development be damned.... I find it funny they say he got too much focus when he was basically used as a tool to force Blitzo to grow. Like Ramona Flowers pre Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
