Thomas The Tank Engine
For the 80th anniversary of Thomas, I posted a story from my own adaptation of Thomas titled "Sodor Island Railway", and just a couple days ago, I posted a synthwave pic using my Thomas design. Now, for the first time ever, I'm showing you a full reference picture of MY take on the tank engine who shaped my life.
Thomas is, of course, an E2. But the resemblance is Loose at best, especially in the TV series. I gave him the running board dip at both ends to make him more anatomically correct, along with reshaping his side tanks. However, I did want to make him somewhat resemble his shape as we know it, so I shortened him and gave him the two cab windows on both sides. His wheel arches/splashers are decorative toolboxes, This was inspired by someone's WWII/The Adventures Of Thomas design.
Speaking of, the engines in that forsaken film were meant to have mechanical faces which would morph into their smokebox doors. I thought the idea of mechanical faces was interesting, so I combined that and the familiar Thomas face to create a well-blended medium. I think it turned out perfectly.
So that's my take on Thomas the Tank Engine. As for if I write and post more stories, or show off more of my designs, only time will tell.
