It wasn't uncommon to have some of your favorite cartoon characters to ride along and boost morale in violent times. This was inspired by an actual patch for Airship Patrol Squadron 32 during WWII, stationed in the Pacific, South America, and the Caribbean which had a mouse riding balloons, carrying a bomb. They were credited with countless assists on rescue missions for crashed planes, wrecked ships, and people caught on land needing evacuations.
