The sounds of a screw gun could be heard coming from within Vanilla's kitchen. As Tails toiled away at his latest gizmo, the older Rabbit woman sat at her table, sipping tea and reading the papers he had presented to her. She looked to the busy fox, "This machine of yours sounds like a dream come true, Mister Prower! If it is possible, I would be able to do a lot more baking. Storage will never be an issue again!" The fox nodded and blushed as she called him by his proper name. "That's right ma'am and if this particle reformer works half as well as I hope it does, then I might just be able to help solve food shortages around the village!" "Not just the village, but the whole world could benefit from resizing their food. The portions would be enormous." Vanilla looked at the sweet little boy she had watched grow into a capable young man.
"Well, let's just start with your own needs first... alright, that should just about do it!" Giving his wrench a final turn, the device was installed into the countertop. It gave the look of a retro hair drier that emanated a yellowish- green glow. It wasn't cumbersome by any means, but it did take up a bit of space. "And now, to put it to the test!" The boy crawled out from the cabinet space, dusted himself off and smiled at the sandwich that Vanilla had made for him. "This looks amazing, almost to good to sacrifice for a test, but by my calculations it should taste just the same after it has been shrunken and then regrown."
Picking up a controller that had two buttons and a dial on it, Tails positioned the device to ready for testing. "Alright Miss Vanilla, get ready to see the tiniest ham sandwich ever!" The device whirred as it powered up and soon a beam of light flashed, hitting the plate. They waited and Tails began to frown, Vanilla looked at him sadly, "Oh Honey, I am so sorry..." The inventor took a breath and smiled, "That's alright, i'll keep tweaking it and we'll see what happens."
The sound of soft feet could be heard approaching from the hallway, "Mother?" A gentle voice called, "Miss Rouge is at the door." The small Cream had appeared with her favorite Chao, Cheese, in tow. "Oh my stars, I lost track of the time, Cream, you be a good girl for Mister Pr- Tails, while I am gone this weekend and Mister Tails, thank you for your hard work, I know you will have it figured out in no time at all." Tails smiled at this reassuring comment, "We're gonna have the best weekend ever Cream! Have fun at the Scissors resort Miss Vanilla!" Vanilla smiled and went to go meet Rouge as the pair stayed behind in the Kitchen. "Give me a call if you need anything! I love you Honey!"
Tails smiled at Cream. "Well Cream, it looks like my first experiment was a failure, but I still have a sandwich, would you and Cheese like to share it?" The pair's eyes lit up and they both nodded furiously. The fox boy handed them each a half and they ran along to play outside. Tails continued to work on his particle reformer. He worked diligently, rewiring here, soldering there and soon it was ready. He smiled as he stood up again, but his eye was caught by something amazing: The plate had all but vanished! It had shrunken down to the size of a penny! "Yes! Yes!" The fox jumped up and down, accidentally bumping into the machine. He had success in shrinking the plate! which could only mean those kiddos were going to need another sandwich. He gleefully ran to the sliding door that led to the back yard, ready to call out to Cream when he heard an odd noise. He turned to see that in his excitement, he had turned it on and its auto lock feature was engaged. Too late he realized this as a flash of green lanced out and hit him square in the chest.
He stumbled back through the door to the outside, his body flooding with an intensely warm sensation. It was as if every cell was buzzing in his system at once. His mind was moving at a million miles a second, trying to comprehend everything as the world slowly began to grow around him. He realized only too late that he increased the speed of the shrinking function from before. A giddy sensation took over as the shrinking process actually tickled quite a bit. Taking a few more steps into the yard, the grass came up to his knees, then his groin, his chest and finally ended when the blades reached his ears.
Heart pounding, he spun around, looking up at the bright sky and the enormous house. He caught his breath and soon his blood went cold "Cream!" He was terrified of what would happen to her if he couldn't be there to watch her. "I have to find her!" He began to whirr his twin tails and took off like a flying insect. He spotted her and cheese running around the yard. His flight path was directed towards her, but the giant girl stopped as she looked his way, noticing the open door. "Mister Tails? Why did you leave the door open?" The boy flew low and fast as the barefoot girl approached him. He became a bit disoriented and was overcome by residual chills of the shrinking effect, losing another inch in height. This cause him to break his concentration and fall down towards the ground directly in front of Cream. Her immense foot lifted off the ground and carried her towards him. "No Cream! Wait-!"
Squish! The girl's soft foot came into full contact with his small body, pressing down on him with her light frame. It was admittedly not unpleasant, but Tails couldn't think about that at the moment, his thoughts were filled with fear of the worst possible outcome. Immediately her foot came up with the twin tailed fox plastered to her sole. His mouth agape, tasting her salty foot flesh and inhaling her scent. "Eek!- What was that?!" She immediately sat in the grass as Cheese came over to tend to her, she turned her foot over to look at the bug sized fox smear on her sole, "Tails?!?!"
