The following days were... awkward.
As she reconvened with the Hamatos and Casey, April learned more on the previous months of her absence and the new situation of Bebop and Rocksteady, and interacted with them.
Hence the awkwardness.
She intellectually knew now that they had turned a new leaf and genuinely changed for the better.
But emotionally... the last time she saw them was before the internship, back when they were Shredder's retarded, violent brutes.
She didn't see them mature and grow (figuratively).
So for her, it was an instant passing from "dumbass assholes" to "kinder, smarter guys", and it was confusing as hell.
And the mutant duo had no idea of how to break that wall of awkwardness.
First part of the salvation came from Mikey actually, when he asked April if she had an idea for their first video review since her return.
"Oh, well, I have an idea. You'd be up for a Smallville marathon?"
"Smallville... That prequel series to Superman?" asked Mikey.
"Yeah! It must be good, seeing its success! It lasted ten seasons after all!"
"Too many."
April and Mikey turned in surprise to the third voice: Bebop.
"Uh?!"
"Smallville lasted ten seasons too many," deadpanned Bebop. "That series' boring, dumb and a mess. And I know what I'm talking about, I watched it!"
"A mess?" repeated April.
"Yeah, a mess. ...Okay, to be fair, there are good things in it, I didn't watch it back then just because I was a retard. There's some neat ideas (at first), good villains (at first), spectacular action scenes for a series (but it becomes narmy in how they eventually never go beyond thirty seconds), and except the leads (seriously, I dreamt of bitchslapping these retards!), the actors are pretty good, like John Schneider who does an excellent Jonathan Kent, John Glover who's charismatic as Lionel Luthor, one of the best characters of the series, and Michael Rosenbaum, who's absolutely perfect as Lex Luthor and has the best episodes, especially "Memoria". But GOD, that series was fucking dumb!"
"Er, it's Superman," protested Mikey. "There's always been some dumb in it."
"YEAH, BUT NOT TO THAT POINT!!" barked the warthog mutant. "There's tons of dumb stuff in it, and the worst of it is that they try to develop a mystery on how it'll end! Even though everyone and his mother already knows! SERIOUSLY, STAY AWAY!! DON'T LISTEN TO THE FANDUMB, THESE MORONS WHO THINK TOM WELLING IS THE BEST SUPERMAN EVER BUT HE'S THE WORST!! FLEE THESE RETARDS AND THIS SERIES LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!"
"Okay, exaggerating here," muttered April, who recovered from the shock of seeing Bebop talking in such a verbose and developed way.
"No, I'm not exaggerating!"
"Then explain to us why it's so dumb!"
"You've got the whole week free?" deadpanned the older man. "Because I'll need that to get in detail!"
"...You think you could shorten it in a top ten?" eventually asked Mikey.
Both April and Bebop looked in surprise at the turtle.
"Er... Yeah, I think so. Why?"
"Because I think we've got the subject for the new vid!"
It took a few days for Bebop to condense his opinions of the series in a top ten, and for him, April, and Mikey to turn it in a script.
Mikey decided that April and Bebop would be on screen for the video, but not him. He said he already had reviews with him, it was April's turn, and he preferred for her to get used to him before they try reviews at three.
And, unsaid, to use that opening to get over the awkwardness.
The first moments of filming weren't hard, they just "repeated" the conversation they had. The rest of the video would be the real test.
It went well.
The review was pretty damn successful on the sites, comments lauding the humor and the interactions.
And the time filming killed the awkwardness between April and Bebop.
One down, one to go, thought Mikey.
