Kingo is born in the Night Pride to King Adhumita and his consort Kujali, the pride's ruling couple at the time. Since he was born minutes before his twin sister Sarani, Kingo is initially chosen as the pride's future ruler. But as he and his sister grow up, Kingo shows some signs that he would end up being a poor leader. He is very impatient and irresponsible, and while his parents try their best, there is simply no changing him. When he and Sarani are still cubs, a small group of foreign lions join the Night Pride, and Sarani takes a shine to a male cub named Mahaan. Adhumita and Kujali take notice of Mahaan's good qualities as the cubs grow up, and in a move that surprises everyone, the king and queen announce that Mahaan will be their heir instead of Kingo, and that he will marry their daughter Sarani.
This, of course, does not sit well with Kingo.
While he does eventually settle down with his own betrothed Nafie and has a daughter with her, Kingo remains very bitter with how things turned out. He forever holds a grudge towards his parents and Mahaan for robbing him of his birthright, never accepting the fact that it was his own irresponsible behaviour that made them make their decision in the first place. His bitter jealousy increases when Mahaan and Sarani have a litter of cubs together, his hatred towards Mahaan often translating into cruel 'jokes' played on his nephew and two nieces. Kingo vows to himself that he will one day claim the throne that so rightfully belonged to him, and that opportunity comes with a chance encounter with a large striped cat.
The beast introduces himself as Khanish, and he comes to Kingo with a proposition. He and his kind -'tigers' as they called themselves- were animals originating from a foreign land just as Mahaan was, and they were searching for a new place to call home. Adhumita wouldn't allow them to enter the Night Pride's lands as he saw the striped cats as dangerous, so Khanish proposed that if he could help Kingo become the Night Pride's king, he would allow him and his fellow tigers to live in the kingdom. Seeing this as a chance to finally have what's rightfully his, Kingo agrees and aids Khanish by showing him spots where the king and queen go to when he could easily strike without being caught. Queen Sarani is the first to go, having been killed by Khanish after his aardwolf lackey runs off with her son, Sinh. Pretending to be grieving his sister, Kingo blames Mahaan for her death, knowing that the king's grief would make it easier for Khan to take him out. Mahaan later meets his end and his cubs quickly go missing following the attack, and with them gone, Kingo is now the heir-apparent and quickly ascends the throne.
Kingo's reign is a somewhat chaotic one, with the numerous tigers that he allowed into the kingdom overhunting and attacking animals that came to seek shelter, Kingo struggling to produce a male heir that he desired, his mate Nafie suddenly dying, and both his daughter Orni and the pride's trusted healer Shahana disappearing at some point. The pride pleads with Kingo to drive out the tigers, but he refuses and tries to reason with them instead, knowing that Khanish would rat him out if he forced them to leave. Kingo considers trying for an heir with his nephew's former betrothed Fara, but she runs off before he could make a proposition.
When things begin to look bleak, the now adult prince Sinh returns to the pride, having been found by Shahana who had left the kingdom in the hopes of finding the king's missing children. Believing that Kingo was the one who killed his parents, Sinh challenges him for the throne. After he defeats him in a mashindano, Kingo reveals to Sinh that he wasn't the one who killed his parents, that it was a tiger named Khanish who arranged the murders and all that Kingo did was show him places where he could easily kill them. Having clearly played a part in the king and queen's untimely deaths, Kingo is banished on the spot and is never seen by the Night Pride again.
Kingo is Mondo!Simba's uncle who appeared in an episode of Simba The King Lion. He was basically a lame Scar wannabe.
