There isn't a lot to this particular piece. It mainly came from some musings in Early-to-Mid October, as I was gradually preparing to head south to Florida for the winter.
There were two particular musical influences, specifically Joni Mitchell's song "Urge For Going" and Gordon Lightfoot's song: "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" I suppose thinking of that song is particularly apropos seeing as how 2025 is the 50th Anniversary of The Fitz going down. However, the only part of the song I am (indirectly) referring to is the verse, where Lightfoot described the characteristics of each of the lakes. In the case of Huron (which I live along the coast of, for half of the year), he sang about how Huron "rolls", even in a relatively gentle wind.
Beyond the aforementioned musical references, I think the piece pretty much stands on its own, but I'll let the reader be the ultimate judge of that...

'Mare Tranquillitatis' by David Arkenstone was playing as I read this poem and it fit perfectly. We are in that same 'mode' Woton; but for me, I dream of the past as a child in the snow.
These days, I'm feeling my age more than usual - or more correctly, more than I used to.
Very nicely done, and well received.
