Should I Get Sleepy? (Pg 6.: Navigating the First Session)
Should I Get Sleepy?: Navigating The First Session
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Everyone gets a little unsure of what they should be doing for their first time. some subjects just want to dive right in. For those who are consenting and experienced, that can be okay. But for newcomers or first time hypnotists, planning out what you wish to do for each session is a great way to build a rapport with your partner.
There's also a few people that really enjoy Consensual Non-Consent; roleplaying out that you don't want to be controlled. While that's all fine later on, these early stages are important to get into your head that this is meant to be a safe practice. setting the precedence of further sessions going forward.
A few ideas for your first session could be:
Learning to relax
Familiarizing yourself with being tranced
Stress relief
Establishing a common visual metaphor to use
Establishing safety triggers (such as an easy awakener)
As I mentioned before, this is all meant to be recreational hypnosis, but many of these techniques you learn could be something the subject uses to clam themselves down on the day to day. But a reminder to all hypnotists getting started:
Boundaries should always be respected, and no matter how much older or more experienced your subject is, you must remain the responsible party.
You are the navigator.
