This is the second commission I drew for Radio Ardilla.
I forgot to submit this one even though I finished it more than a week ago... Or was it two weeks? My memory doesn't work very well.
And uh, I know, I'm not very good at drawing interiors. I did buy this book about proper perspective, though. I can only hope I'll eventually learn something from it. But anyway, I liked drawing all the little details. It was actually quite fun.

Aw, thank you! I know the amount of details here is just a pale shadow of those I've seen in your submissions.
It took quite a while for me to draw all this stuff (and colour it, too). I can't but wonder how you find the time and patience to make your art so accurate and detailed. =)

What're you talking about you're not good with interiors?! OMG, all those textures and light sources and there are some bits in there that are so darn realistic I'd swear it was a photograph! Like the post it notes on the fridge, the clock on the wall..and that tile floor is bloody AMAZING! Most of all, it has that shine to it that I mentally equate with a finished piece, no blurry airbrush to cover up mistakes, because well, there are no mistakes in this! It's all crisp and clean and FLAWLESS
*chuckle* The only thing that's incredible about me is my appetite. That's why I like scenes where people make food. x)
*sigh* If only I could afford to buy some pasta. Student life is so poor.
Oh, but anyway... Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment, Sharra! The swish line was Radio Ardilla's idea, as was the most of the setting. =)

the only thing i can think of that is bothering me at all is that i can't see the ceiling and that would be a really long pole for the light fixture to be on. but i can't really talk as my house has extremely high ceilings, they're just at an angle. even if their was just a ceiling line in the BG. but it's all handled so well, and it's actually more work to not include the ceiling. do finlanders/finners/the fins...finnish homes have high ceilings? that's more of just a curiosity question...
Hmm, yeh, I guess the ceiling is a bit too high. The whole background issue made me pretty nervous so I tried to come up with these, uh, creative ways to patch up my lack of architecht... architechtudinal? skills. x)
But it might also be that high ceilings are embedded in my subconcious memory... The house where I lived my childhood was built in the 1920s and the ceiling was way over three metres high. And I think that overall we do have pretty high ceilings. =)

trust me, it's still a lovely piece. i only noticed it because i was working on a comic today and i had forgotten about my ceilings and had to pencil them in. geez 1920's. i'd kill for an old house, being in this college town with most everything being relatively new and built fast to accommodate the new population it's all 2000's new crap. architecture means nothing anymore here so it seems, everyone's more worried about "prime real estate" rather than caring about the building itself. sorry to go so off-topic :3
Living in an old house had its pros and cons. I thought it was fun that there were old newspapers wrapped around the pipework in the basement. They were really well-preserved and some of them were from the 30s and early 40s.
And there were some secret compartments and a mysterious hidden door in our apartment. We also found really old and funny-looking spectacles from this one dusty closet. =)

I like seeing furs doing "real life" things... so much of what you see is fantasy. I like the mundane stuff - it's almost more fun. ^_^
I can go overboard when I do backgrounds with lots of little details... it's so much fun that it should be criminal. What's he cooking?? It looks like soup to me... *sniff sniff* mmm... I love soup.

I kinda like the mundane stuff as well. Fantasy becomes more realistic when you add little details to it. Even when I dabble with all that "lol hc rp high fantasy" stuff I like to concentrate on realistic elements... Like the question whether the hillside dwarves harvest broad beans or turnips and what kind of plague are they suddenly struck with. ^^;;
As for the food, I think they're going to eat something that has rice in it.

"...ja kuvitelkaapa mitä se heebo siellä vielä sanoi minulle kun olin ruoka-ostoksilla. Hän sanoi että "ookkonää jokin homo, vai?". No, sanoin vain hänelle että "minulla on kaksi hyvää nais-ystävää, jotka RAKASTAVAT kokkailevia miehiä!" Olisittepa nähneet hänen ilmeensä kun hän oli niin kateellisen näköinen"

Juuri NUO sanat tuli mieleen tästä kuvasta. Mieshän kertoo mitä hän on kokenut ja muut nauravat sille. Elikkä jokin huvittava kohtaus, vaikka onkin osaa tätä meidän jokapäiväistä elämäämme.

I like the fridge the most too. Maybe it's because I'm a starving student and I love to think about food. xD
I left the cupboards unlined because when I drew them I didn't know what kind of texture to use. And when I got around to colouring the wooden panels I thought that the cupboards didn't need a lineart of their own. The sink doesn't have a visible lineart either nor does the lamp. =)

I know that someone else has mentioned the ceiling so I don't need to rehash it anymore than that. Its something thats not easily remembered unless you have had technical art and drafting studies.
The rest of the picture is warm and nicely detailed, pretty good results considering its computer art. The floor tiling is a neat old time touch

Thank you, Lope!
Getting the perspective of the floor tiling right was very hard... And I still can't say if it looks as it should.
It seems the more I learn the harder things get. A couple of years ago I didn't know anything about perspective and now it's suddenly everywhere... And most of the time it's giving me a lot of trouble. =P

Hmm, maybe the 'smoke' (I'm sure it's nice smelling stuff) should have no outline?
I love how they all seem to be having fun. Wonder what the joke was?
And the shiny-s on the table really make it seem to shine like laminate.
The perspective seems just fine to me. Drawing in all the perspective lines works for me.
I also find some details fun to draw. I get caught up in it and when I'm done I wonder where it all came from. But I don't like to colour it all. That gets tedious.
