Marrokson is a wandering adventurer with his wife, the sorceress Odina. His people are settlers in her lands, based on the Norse for him, Native American, Pacific Northwest for her. Odina encourages his womanizing, as her position in her society says that any children he fathers are hers, as her husband, and this gives her a hook in control and connection in other tribes, settler towns, and so on.

His mother is a shapeshifting icewolf, Serrissa the Snow Flower. She took the form of a nobles wife, got pregnant and had him. She followed with him to the new world. Serrissa has taught him that he is son of the diety Wolf Father Marrok, rather than some nobleman's bastard.
