By the 1980s the occasional flooding in the area was well-known. Unlike the midcentury homes pretty much every 1980s house is built up on stilts. Though at this point it was still a mostly middle class area, and these aren't huge houses. Many are still just one floor with usually 3 bedrooms. But you're beginning to see more large homes mixed in.
Wood siding was very much back in fashion in the 1980s, clapboard and shingles on higher end houses, or t-111 on more average ones. And homes were built in the 1980s modern style. Decorative trim was kept to a minimum, with the aesthetics of the home based on rooflines and natural materials. Windows were undivided single glass picture or crank-out windows. Natural style landscaping was also popular.

yeah see that's what i was thinking the other one's underside would be used for too. just depends on if you feel your cars deserve a barn or a wide carport! honestly after an event two years back i think stilts and not being on ground level with water ain't such a bad building layout for places other than the beach too.
