Karate Krane Characters - Joe and Lucie
A couple more characters for my Karate Krane story; though mostly supporting characters, these are some of the closest in Chris' life and his journey throughout this story, acting as his shoulder angel/devil duo.
The first being Joe, or at least that the alias he uses for himself. He serves and Chris' conscience, life coach, and, of course, shoulder angel, even though I've imagined him basically being an Earthly manifestation of God himself, as is reflected in the tri-pyramidal form he assumes, representing the Holy Trinity, with each side bearing their own face and sometimes separate personality. Now bear in mind, he's no uptight, stuck up, puritanical snob, and is even quite liberal-minded but rather advises Chris on his actions and decisions, to take into consideration the feelings of the people around him, and warning him of the possible risks and ramifications that ill-begotten choices can have on them and his own life. Now, while I feel that this tri-colored, tri-optic, tri-pyramidal design really best reflects on the aforementioned Holy Trinity, I'd also considered the simple one-eyed triangle design you find on dollar bills, as that's how I often see in my head, though perhaps it may be a bit too reminiscent of Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls; but I dunno, I feel this first design really reflects best on God's nature and character, but what do you guys think? Which design do you like best and think I should go for?
Now Lucie, in contrast, being Chris' shoulder devil, tends to try and encourage and sway Chris to throw caution into the wind and indulge in life's gratifications without giving much thought as to possible after effects. He's all about self-centered indulgence, while Joe is more for altruism and consideration both in regards to Chris' life and the people around him.
Now, while Joe's design is meant to reflect on the Holy Trinity, based on my Christian beliefs and upbringing, I also try to be Unitarian here and picture him and Lucie coming together to form other religious symbols such as the Star of David, or a Yin-Yang, as shown here. And while their intentions often clash, and often they butt heads over which way to lead Chris, in the end, they both ultimately want what they each think is best for him, and may occasionally team up over a common good.
P. S. Though I'd originally planned Joe for Karate Krane, being the omnipresent pan-dimensional All Spirit that he is, I may have him show up in other universes in other works of mine, so be on the lookout for him! ;)
Anyhow, just wanted to get out there some characters for Karate Krane that I'd pretty much already have finished before I get on with celebratory artworks prepared for this season. Don't worry, though! They're just about on their way, with one just about finished! Stay tuned ;)
