Heathcliff - Heathcliff tends to act superior to the other neighborhood cats and is usually considered to be one of the toughest cats in his town. He is also smarter than most of the neighborhood cats and has a habit of stealing food and causing trouble. Although he may appear to be an “antagonist”, he truly cares about his friends, family, and his girlfriend Sonja and even frenemies like Spike in spite of feuding. He also tends to be romantic, especially towards Sonja, and will become jealous when seeing her mingle with another cat. Even so he has looked at other queen cats, but in the proves himself worthy to her heart.

Sonja - Sonja is the girlfriend to Heathcliff. She is a female cat owned by Herb and Mrs. Jablonski. Her last name is Jablonski for her owner's last name. Sonja in the comic strip and Ruby-Spears cartoons is loyal to Heathcliff to a great extent. She never cheats on him, but in the comic series from 1985-1991 comic book series and the series Heathcliff & the Catillac Cats, sometimes, other cats like Pussini, Pecks Beefcake or Knuckles attempt to woo her, which seems to wind up facing Heathcliff's rage.

Spike - Spike is known to be a very strong bulldog, although he is very fearful and weak at heart, which Heathcliff often laughs at. Spike acts like the top dog of the neighborhood. He bullies those weaker than him. Heathcliff however is able to stand up to as Spike stand no chance against the latter. Despite this he has shown a good side to him and he and Heathcliff have gotten along on several occasions especially when facing off common enemies such as Lefty, Knuckles, and Raul as shown in the episode The Fortune Teller as well as the cats whom the trio set up to steal from Heathcliff.
