For Confuzzled in 2026, the theme is musical theatre. Full disclosure, I am one of the few gay men in the world who isn't into musical theatre, show tunes just don't do anything for me (except Hazbin Hotel, I am really into that). Thus, I wanted to come up with a badge concept, and a musical about Dennis, and how he became the Soul Seeker.

In a world not unlike our own, populist politics are on the rise, the lives of LGBTQ+ people are being made increasingly untenable as influencers promote hostile hate policies, and Dennis is very much amongst the undesirable category of people. He attends a protest against a particular political party gaining in the polls, until he is caught in an explosion. His wounds are mostly up his left arm, but psychologically something has happened to him. Suddenly, he is able to see the dead, the spirits of those like him, victims of hate crime, and he learns how to channel their souls to bring their talents back to life. Now, he takes to the world as the Soul Seeker, using the gifts from across the rainbow bridge to bring truth to power, challenge the hatred and maybe finding the person behind the bomb, before the hate party use the tragedy to seize control.
