Lioness Arts' Tiger Line of computers - often called 'mobile desktops' - were originally marketed as the go-to machine for the business man on the go.

The only problem with that pitch was that the to save on costs, they sold the operating system separately. In theory, with companies having their own internal software, you could customize the Tiger to be any kind of machine you want.

In practice, early adopters bought a hunk of metal that they sold for parts and the first generation of Tiger-100s were considered a flop for the first month of its life before being bought by rogue programmers & independent developers. Turns out, being able to plug in whatever OS you want - or in the case of the 800, being able to use your computer as a husk for program cartridges that you can work on almost anywhere & not be tied to one desktop - that's the kind flexibility they live for.

Thus, the Tiger series became the people's choice for adaptive programming. While nobody is so delusional to think that the company cares about people any more than any other, Lioness Arts has gained the favor of freelance programmers.
