Genevive: I've actually been wondering something, C.C.

Carmen: Oh wow, you've rarely call me that. And the times you have, you followed it by being sentimental and shit.

Genevive: This is because I'm about to hit a touchy subject for you.

Carmen: Oh. Well, thank you for the heads up. What's on your mind?

Genevive: Dia de Muertos is usually a day about family and friends. Especially family. And frankly, yours kinda sucked.

Carmen: That's putting it lightly, but yeah. And there never was a contest on who was worse, as neither of them had the decency to say anything face to face. So I'm guessing you're wondering who I'd be honoring.

Genevive: Exactly.

Carmen: The other women who raised me, in their own little bits and pieces. Dad spent a lot of time and money on sex workers. Riiiight around the time puberty hit the hardest. And sure, he tried, but he didn't exactly have the knowledge of what was happening to my body to help the best. But a lot of the women he brought home did notice. They helped me, and helped him, figure out what I needed to learn so I wasn't going through it alone. So I kinda owe a fair amount of who I am today to sex workers. So that's who I'll always honor this time of year.
