Honestly, though, "Beastars" does the whole interspecies society better. It doesn't sugar-coat the absolute MESS such a world would really be under the veneer of civilization. Though, like ALL stories which try to make a 'realistic' world of animals... it fails to offer a plausible reason the world managed to attain ANY sort of peace at all. It did better when it stuck to an 'internal' story that was character-focused. Once it tried to explain its world... it fell apart and had to bring in a literal flying God Whale... yeahhhhh...

REALISTICALLY, the prey species, outnumbering predators by a factor of a 100-to-1 or more, would overwhelm the predator species and wipe them out once even simple weapons were invented. Intelligence + sharp sticks is a GAME CHANGER in the balance. Just look what it did for feeble humans.
