Considering what I’ve been watching as of late, I would be more surprised if a pilgrim wasn’t attempting to get rid of the natives. The hat looks good on Lucius though, with ear holes for him. I’d also say that the coyotes need a feast with their skinny bodies, although I can’t account for whatever Lucius did, or did not put in it.

Nothing goes as well together as cats and silly hats! Lucius is probably testing them with that feast. Some of it's poisoned, some of it's not. Hopefully the coyotes can sniff out what's good and what's not...

Can Lucius get fired or replaced over how he treats the canines?

He actually can! While they're mostly hands-off, the HRC has "sponsors" who were the ones who created this place and put Lucius in charge. Lucius does have rules he has to follow pertaining to resident welfare. While the rules are still pretty lax, if Lucius seriously injures or kills a resident (that's not part of the "circle of life") he'll be in DEEP trouble. The sponsors will step in if they have to.
