Oh yeah, both Inferno and Smokescreen go "BURN"!
Arbok would have also been fitting admittedly, but when I first thought of the concept of the muscle of the group many years ago I thought of a fighting type like Machamp or Machoke, but didn't go through with that due to their too humanoid looks.
Later when reviving the project it was after Sword and Shield was released and I saw Bewear and thought that it in-universe it would be fitting for a Predacon to take on an unassuming but powerful form, but out of universe it's also because the idea is hilarious.
