Now that his hunger was dealt with Raptor turned his attention to finding his friends. He attached his antennae to a pore in the vetch mat and linked with the hive mind. The hive mind was cold, analytical, like an all prevailing computer watching over and keeping tabs on everything. With the help of the hive Raptor envisioned a map in his mind. He saw his own location and those of other Nithraks as well. He could feel their attention drawn to himself suddenly. But when they sensed he had just eaten and was only looking for his friends they turned away. The mood returned to the ever present background noise, the feeling of millions of conversations quietly taking place in the distance. Raptor could listen in on any of them, but he was not interested. He did however notice two large predators to the south. But they weren't currently connected to the hive mind, so he couldn't feel their intentions. He did however locate his friends. They were on two different upper platforms. Raptor decided to head towards the one in the west, it would save him the effort of climbing down a canyon.


Look, nothing glowing this time. Anyway, I'm not sure I like the way the though bubble turned out, I might give it fuzzy edges next time. If you're confused by the map view, it's supposed to look like a series of table coral platforms stacked on top of each other. The vetch grows in huge platforms, creating a base for other plants to grow on. The Nithrak live in a confusing multi-level maze.
