Lamb's whole plan makes sense: if the opponents pull a strong push from the start, it's a perfect opportunity to turn it against them before they manage to adjust to her team's own tactics, Fen being the main force of the team will force the opponents to focus on her, not only getting her to be able to smash them, but also opening them tp either Lamb or Birk (depending on who's tag-teaming with Fen at that moment) to flank them;

And the third point: yeah Fen also don't want to lose, and by her face at the last panel she'll make sure that's not the case.

As always, they have to push Fen in order for her to do something, or at least do something correctly.

Fen has been a loser all her life and didn't get her shit together until she came to the temple. Even with her training, Fen is a novice compared to everyone else. Morgan is all around, Fen's better and should be the one leading this team to victory, especially since Fen hasn't shown progress in two matches.

Honestly, I hope they don't win the tournament. Morgan's bit here is pretty mercenary and Fen, while quite skilled on her own, seems to lack most team skills which, despite what Morgan said, is kind of important here. Because despite popular belief, I don't actually think Fen could take on a decently coordinated "team" on her own. It would do better if they lost but used as a good insight into what they need to improve on... or if the tournament was interupted by something catastrophic (that's where my money is).

It would definitely be a nice spin on the usual narrative formula these days.

Heck, even dragon ball had goku lose his first tournament (granted mostly due to luck) but it was one of the driving factors for his father development and the next fight with Tien after that made it so much better to see his development by comparison.

This is was the equivalent of "Fen can you please lock the F*** in?!" lol but I will have to say the team strategy of "placing your bets on one person" as powerful she is don't get me wrong can spell disaster if she get knock out of the ring or the rest of the team does get knock out and it a 3 vs 1. But something tell me the last frame means there an ace up the team sleeves. It will be interesting to see the line up after the qualifiers.

I can see what Morgan sees in him he can definitely be a hot top if he puts his mind to it I just hope fen gets to join

Thing is, Fen really should learn to work with a team. She may end up against someone stronger than her. Hopefully she does, being the strongest usually makes for a boring protaganist. I say usually because Doomslayer is, narratively, the strongest character ever made

It's all a matter of tone. For something light hearted where spectacle and fun is the main focus it's def ok to leave one person as the strongest/OP. In a much more serious story, however, you gotta have the main focus of the story actually struggling because then otherwise it just leads to the question of "what was the point of it then?".

It's honestly strange how this line of thinking is being ignored by a lot of writers these days in place of faux tension and narrative stakes.

Fen's right. Coordination is key, because it is a two on two fight with everybody fighting at once. They would do well to develop some kind of strategy though adaptation is going to be very key since you may not know what your opponent is going to come out with or what tricks they may be hiding up their sleeve.

...but also Morgan is right. Sha literally gave Fen something to enhance her already considerable abilities, and her Hadalen techniques are literally limited by her imagination. She could phase into solid objects for a time WITHOUT the enhancing glove, what kinda wild shit can she do with it? Absolutely makes sense to stop fucking around and have them concentrate on the most capable fighter because she could probably handle it and have the other fighter act as support/annoyance and pick off the others one at a time.

Doesn't this leave a rather large weakness? If their best fighter is too busy fighting one person while the support get rushed down, doesn't that mitigate their entire plan?

I mean the point Morgan's making is that Fen can handle both opponents on her own :p

Morgan has sooooo much to learn.... teamwork is way stronger than pure power. Just ask any D&D or MMORPG boss. ^^
