Snow is still a pretty alien thing to me, since I grew up on the coast where it never snowed! I live where it snows 3-4 times a year now, and it amazes me every time. The desert is somewhat alien, too... but also strikingly beautiful, much like snow.

And also an Eric Johnson song, which is the first place my brain went when I saw this. This fits so well with what I see in my head when I hear the tune (aside from me doing air guitar to the solo part, natch). Something strong and untamed and beautiful. You done nailed it, ma'am.

In a way, yes. :) Though this is one of those images that's been in my head for many years, and just never came out right at all when I tried before. Actually going to the desert, if only for a weekend, managed to jog the right feelings!

This is lovely! The cyan and purple tints really add depth and character (although the cyan could just be super desaturated rose tones playing tricks?). Very nice ^_^

Would you mind if I ask what kind of brush settings you use? I'm starting to dabble in a more paint-y approach, but time and time again the ability to blend smoothly in PS has eluded me, because its tools don't seem to blend as "naturally" (aka easily?) as in apps like ArtRage/SAI. If you prefer to keep that to yourself though, I totally understand!

I had a similar feeling after I left. Settling back into the green and vegetation again was almost uncomfortable... Can't wait to head back out there.

Also, I love the Desert Gypsy to pieces, if anybody belongs out there, its her!
