You all remember my boy Merlin, right? At 8 he went blind suddenly (SARDS), then when he was 9 he started having rear end weakness, and became incontinent. He was diagnosed with hypothyroid disease. He's 11 now, and may be slowing down. He's not eating, only peeing lightly, has some diarrhea. So he's been at the vet's all day, and Jaguar's gone to pick him up.
He's still not eating despite stimulants, and they've rehydrated him. We'll be waiting for the results of his blood test, but the vet isn't overly hopeful. I desperately hope they find something we can treat. Despite the tough cards life has dealt him, he's always been alert and involved and active. I'm not ready to let him go...

I know all too well how that it. We lost my one dog in April. He had a good life though. Average 15 years and so on. I still miss him. If your dog has done weird or funny stuff, those memories stick out. Chili would be gassy at times. He'd get pets until, "Oh man! Why?!" Human freaks out and he's looking over like, 'What? What did I do human?' 😆 He'd have his hyper phase as a puppy and run around the house. He just entertained himself if others were busy. He'd always want to play with me after I'd get home from going out. I miss all those things about him. Whenever he'd beg, he'd just stare as if using a Jedi mind trick to get treats. 😆 "Look into my eyes human and give me treat." My current dog misses him still. Sleeping in his bed a lot. They were friends.
Hoping the best for Merlin, he sounds like the greatest boy. This is the hardest part of being a pet owner and seen your precious baby become your precious senior puppy. Whatever happens don't forget that nothing, not even death, will come between the loves he feels for you and his mission to protect you whether is right by your side or beyond the rainbow. I am hoping for the best possible news for your boy. Keep going strong Merlin.
It's hard to watch our best friends, family, and little babies get so old, frail, and sick. By giving him all the love and medicine and comfort you possibly can, you've already done him a great deal of good. No matter when his time is up, all Merlin knows is the love you've given him all his life. <3 I wish you and Merlin the best.
Hoping for the best for your little guy!
He looks shocking similar to our old dog who we called peppy, or pepper, who we lost in this past year. A lot of our pets are around the same age, and oddly enough we had to let go of one of our cats just today too.
Seeing your pet's health fail is an incredibly hard thing to go through. Whatever way it goes, make the most of your time with him. It's a cruel irony that us humans tend to take things for granted until we're in danger of losing them forever
