Braelynn Buchanan, at first, seems like just a typical redneck Southern girl, the kind popularized by the Dukes of Hazzard TV series that would work on cars and strut around in cut-off jean shorts with a plaid shirt tied in just the right way to show off her chest. However, while her hometown of Boone, North Carolina, is a sleepy mountain hamlet that has multiple roles as both a college town and a popular tourist getaway, it also happens to be not too far away from Grandfather Mountain, a towering peak over a mile high, and one of the tallest mountains in the United States east of the Mississippi River. And here lays the Sept of the Grandfather, a former Uktena caern that was sealed centuries ago when the Cherokee were driven away from the lands around it, until an ambitious Fianna theurge, Dougal Mountain-Speaker reopened the caern and claimed it for his own tribe, which Braelynn belongs to.
Born into this community focused around the Sept, Braelynn was determined at a young age by her mother, a herself a niece of old Dougal, to possibly have the wolf inside of her, a fact which Dougal confirmed through some tests. As such, being a Garou was always a part of her life, and when she went through her First Change, she had an entire Sept to help her through it, as well as the spirit of the mountain itself, "Grandfather", who offered her a vision of a red-haired Crinos with a special sword confronting an avatar of the Wyrm itself. Knowing pursuing such a fate would most likely be her own demise, she knew it would not only be a great victory against the enemy she had wanted to confront for so long, but it would bring great honor and glory to her Tribe, her Sept, and her own name.
So instead of going into college, she got a job at a local auto shop, using her increased strength to handle vehicles just as well as the boys. She studied swordsmithing and silversmithing in her spare time, while also conducting research and making contacts where she could to inquire about Grand Klaives, the ancient Garou blades made of silver that were relics from an age long before humans had proper civilization. Eventually, it was discovered that a Grand Klaive had been seized by a governmental organization, so the Sept gathered together a war party to raid the convoy carrying it through Asheville, ambushing the transports as they passed along Interstate 40 near Biltmore Estate. Even though it turned out to be a convoy of Technocratic Union agents coming back from securing what they thought were Mage artifacts, the pitched battle turned in the favor of the Garou, who absconded with the damaged Grand Klaive. Once their wounds were licked, Braelynn got to work reforging the legendary blade and attuning with the spirits bound to it, naming her new companion "Briar Rose".
Packing up what she could now that she was ready to fulfill her calling, Braelynn hit the road on a restored Royal Enfield Bullet 350 she christened "Silver", heading out with Briar Rose carefully concealed in a custom case attached to her saddle bags. While possessing a strong sense of duty and honor, she's still a fairly laid-back girl from the backwoods of North Carolina, and tends to be easy-going and relaxed. However, that casual demeanor doesn't mean that the rage of the wolf isn't lurking just beneath the surface, and she will gladly respond to any threat to herself or those she considered comrades.
