An old art teacher (and comic book artist) of mine once told me that to get a professional look on traditionally colored art the best kind of paper is "ivory paper" (not made from actual ivory obviously).
It's thicker than regular paper and absorbs ink in a much more preferable way than regular copy paper. I only once tried it for lines, using a steel nib, though so I can't say how well it works with markers. I also don't know how easy those papers are to get hold of nor how expensive they are. I don't do any traditional coloring myself nowadays.
Perhaps you should look them up and see if it's anything for you =)
