That’s pretty funny, and subtly clever, how Lucius covered up what seemed to have been something Martin clearly didn’t feel comfortable talking about.
Compared to Dakota’s or Calvin’s circumstances, the fact that Martin hesitated like that implies it’s something either really embarrassing, personal, or based on Lucius’ Broadway reprise, something Martin doesn’t want to admit to, like being a jerk.
And now Martin has stopped resisting his new home by calling it “my cage”. Quite the magic trick of psychological manipulation by Lucius.
