The apple in Chomby's hand glowed. It felt warm and comforting to him. He'd spent so long trying to figure out who he was and why he even existed that he never once actually stopped to ask himself how... How did he managed to get through all that? It didn't make sense to him.
He knew he trudged through it all, trying so desperately to get to the bright future where he had everything figured out. He knew every answer. He was whole. The only reason he knew he could do it was because a voice told him he could. A voice that was even louder than his best friend's voice. A voice that trumped even his own thoughts.
"What are you going to do now?" Chomby heard the quiet voice of Sarge ask from inside his mind.
"I don't know." Chomby looked down at the apple. His frown grew. "Beyond even your reassurance, and my own, I had some other voice telling me it was all going to be worth it if I continued."
"Whose was it?"
Chomby shook his head and repeated himself. "I don't know. It led me down this path, and I pushed through like a juggernaut to get to it because I was determined to find an answer. It was all because of that voice."
"Do you think you could have made it without that voice?"
"No. I don't think I could have. It was hard. It was frustrating. It led me to tears many times. I couldn't have done it... at all."
Chomby remembered a distinct moment in his past. He was out in the forest, lost, cold, and afraid. He didn't know what was going on, nor how he even got there in the first place. Through his fear, he saw a faint, teal glow coming from the ground up ahead of him. When he approached, he saw what looked like an apple sitting on the ground. It was unlike any he'd ever seen before, but it felt comforting.
"Keep going, you've got this," a quiet voice had whispered to him. "You're nearly there. Keep going."
Chomby had tried to pick up the apple, but his fingers phased right through it. It was like an illusion.
But now, here it was in his hands. As he stared at it with the sun rising, he started to realize what it meant.
"It was me," Chomby whispered.
"You?" Sarge asked.
"It was me!" Chomby repeated, but increasing his volume. He clutched his hand around the apple. "I made it to here because of me."
"You were the voice that told you to keep moving forward...?" Sarge sounded confused.
"I only made it this far into the future because I told myself I could do it. It wasn't a stray voice that told me I could, it was ME, here and now!"
Sarge didn't reply. He seemed to be deep in thought.
"I need to be the one to tell myself I can do it." Chomby said. He was greeted by minutes of silence.
"Barring the impossible, which seems to be nothing at this point, how are you going to go back in time to do that?" Sarge finally asked.
"I don't know," Chomby said, "but trust me, I'll be back in the day."
New song cover! Wooooo! You can watch it here: Juggernaut
It took me a while to interpret the song itself, but I feel the song is about someone who sees his past and knows he made it to where he wanted to be but questions HOW he did it. He then realizes that he made it because of himself, going "back in the day" to give himself encouragement..... I know it's a bit of a stretch, but hey, that's how I interpreted it!
