Been grinding my teeth recently over ref sheets that seem to avoid showing the chests of characters, so decided to throw together some refs to use when doing commissions, and figured I might as well make them available to everyone. If there's enough interest in other specific examples of anatomy/ways of layering scales I'll add to this, so feel free to suggest them in the comments.
Otherwise, feel free to edit these to suit your own needs, I don't need crediting but it's nice to be, likewise it'd be really nice to see how these get used (if they even are lmao).
I do not give permission for these to be used in any kind of 'AI' image generation.
The animals I drew from for this: equine, feline, bird, crocodile, bat.
I also did a bunch of wings a few years ago that are also free to use: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50749596/

Oooh very nice ref! I'm glad to see wing arms attached BEHIND the shoulders, very good attention to functional realism.
One thing of note for people reading:
You only see the non-keeled variants on drakes/reptiles. Anything with wings would need the muscle support that the keel provides. Don't be silly and get that mixed up!

Glad you like it!
Well ... Only if people are going for something that 'looks' realistic for spec-bio stuff, in which case they probably don't really need these templates. If we're talking real then they... wouldn't exist at all, they're mythical, it doesn't matter if they have real keels or not, they can have two inch butterfly wings and still fly if they want.
Also the 'keeling' I'm referring to here is just the topography, only the bird-based one actually has an anatomical keel in these pictures, the rest just have wings glued on with hopes and dreams.
