A documentary excerpt : the harsh arctic climate forced polar sergals to adopt a largely sedentary lifestyle consisting of stationary pastimes and calorie-rich diet to facilitate accumulation of insulating adipose tissue. The onset of modernity saw the struggle for survival ended but did not change the nature of polar sergals. Automation, digital entertainment and a wide gamut of fast food options led to unprecedented weight increase in the boreal sergal population, to the point where the abdomen of an average specimen stretches out to the point of constant contact with the ground before reaching maturity, reducing the once proud nomadic race to increasingly immobile lumps of adipose, having long surpassed seals and sea elephants they used to hunt in terms of body fat. It is fortunate the never-melting ice allows polar sergals to slide on their engorged bellies on the rare occasion their hunger compels them to move their obese bodies towards the nearest source of food, working harder to waddle just a few yards than it was for their ancestors to cover miles of icy desert. However, at the current rate of weight gain, even that erratic locomotion may soon become impossible for the gluttonous sergals, unwilling to change their traditional lifestyle.
