Description
Daisy is a dragon who lives in a cave on the Island of Wetren. She is both a prim and proper lady and a ferocious beast. A blue, pear-shaped shapeshifter, her magic bends not only flesh, but identity itself. Her primary form is female, though she may change gender, species, or even become inanimate objects and vehicles without ever losing her true self. No matter the shape she takes, Daisy always keeps her signature blue-and-blonde color scheme.
She is motherly and wise, yet surprisingly ditzy at times—fierce when she must be, gentle when she can. A skilled magician and powerful shapeshifter, Daisy often prefers the quiet magic of care: cooking, protecting, healing, and sheltering others. When in female form, she always wears her apron, which becomes a vest in male form, or part of the paint scheme when she’s an object.
Daisy is roughly 500–650 in dragon years (late 50s in human years), carrying centuries of memory, loss, humor, and survival. She was born in the medieval period and got her name because she hatched in a daisy field. When she was young, she was the royal pet of the legendary King Edmund, Wetren’s national hero. She remained by Edmund’s side until his tragic death, and it left a hole in her heart.
In the years following many events took place, now that the newborn Princess Keristone was fatherless Daisy would change her gender and become “Papa Daisy”, taking her hunting and fishing and all sorts of dragony things. Sometime in the 20th Century she rescued a certain Patrick Pelican from a shipwreck and has made a close friend and ally in him. Most recently, she missed the relationship she had with King Edmund so she adopted James the Duck, bestowing dragonhood on him so she could be his mother. While Keristone’s mother, the Dragon Queen, did not authorize this transformation, she begrudgingly let Daisy off the hook when she saw that James was the only one willing to play with Keristone. Keristone and James are now a couple.
I’ve had Daisy as an OC for over half a decade now, but this is my first time drawing her a ref sheet. Technically this isn’t her first, as I drew up a sloppy sketch to send Keri Johnson of Zookie the Dragon for her to bring Daisy (then known as Mrs. Dragon) to life. But that sketch was so poor it frankly wasn’t worth posting and is now lost to time. My art skills have improved greatly since High School, and I am now confident enough to design a Daisy ref and make it public. Whenever I commission art of Daisy, from now on I’ll be sending this ref.
